The Royal Yachting Association has made its 22-title audiobook catalogue directly available through the RYA Shop and RYA Books app. Its original 4 June 2026 announcement gives motor-yacht and sailing-yacht owners another format for reviewing seamanship topics while travelling, alongside printed and digital books.

A complete catalogue in one place

RYA says its audiobook collection began in 2020 and covers areas including collision regulations, racing rules, cruising, powerboating, VHF and marine radio. The direct-shop arrangement brings those titles together with its other publications rather than limiting users to third-party marketplaces.

The catalogue can also be found on platforms including Apple Books, Google Play, Spotify and Audible, subject to the relevant marketplace terms. Availability is not equivalent to a course enrolment or award.

One-off purchasing and offline listening

The association lists one-off purchases without a subscription, offline downloaded listening and unlimited listening time. These features can suit an owner reviewing a subject on a journey without carrying several physical books.

RYA advertises a 15% member discount and a 25% offer when two formats of a title are purchased together, with applicable conditions. Exact prices and promotions should be checked at purchase rather than assumed permanently valid.

Useful for a 12–23.99m yacht household

Collision regulations, passage preparation and radio procedure are topics relevant to owners of substantial recreational craft. Listening may reinforce familiar ideas, especially when paired with a chart, diagram or the relevant printed handbook.

Audio cannot show every diagram or replace hands-on navigation, practical instruction or the assessment required for a qualification. It should supplement the right course and current authoritative rules, not substitute for them.

An accessibility benefit

RYA highlights compatibility with screen readers and the flexibility of narrated material for people who face barriers to conventional reading. Its announcement also identifies technical support through the book platform.
