Teakdecking Systems has announced a presentation of professional deck-care and installation solutions at IBEX 2026. The subject matters to luxury-yacht owners because the lifespan of cockpit, side-deck and bathing-platform surfaces depends as much on correct care as on the appearance of a new installation.
Maintaining the surface
Timber decking faces UV exposure, salt, grit and regular foot traffic, with wear often concentrated in different areas. Owners should follow the actual installer’s cleaning guidance, because harsh products and aggressive abrasion may remove sound material instead of protecting it.
A deck inspection needs to distinguish surface appearance from failing caulking or problems below the visible planks. Routine care and structural repair are not the same work scope.
Fitting and repair
The company also works with pre-manufactured deck panels and installation services, including templating for the individual hull. Fit, seam layout, adhesive preparation and drainage remain important even when a panel is produced away from the vessel.
For a 15–22m yacht, a planned cockpit repair can involve very different access and labour requirements from replacing an entire foredeck. Owners need an itemised proposal rather than an unqualified promise of a complete cosmetic renewal.
The forthcoming demonstration
The organiser’s exhibitor news lists the Teakdecking Systems announcement in September ahead of the 6–8 October show. The display is a chance for yards and owners to discuss work methods, materials and maintenance documentation.
