Thirty litres per hour is aimed at smaller cruising crews
Schenker says the Qube 30 has been sized around yachts of roughly 40 feet carrying crews of three or four people. Its rated production of 30 litres per hour gives owners a way to replenish domestic water during normal cruising without installing the larger-capacity machinery intended for bigger yachts or larger guest groups.
For LYG owners, the sizing is particularly relevant because many yachts near the 12-metre threshold have limited technical spaces even when their accommodation is generous. A smaller watermaker can therefore add cruising independence without consuming the storage and service access needed for other essential systems.
The horizontal layout is intended to fit modern lockers
The Qube line uses a compact, predominantly horizontal form intended to make better use of increasingly crowded machinery lockers. Schenker says the new model continues the design principles established by its Zen and larger Qube units, with an emphasis on simple packaging and avoiding unnecessary commercial components.
Installation geometry matters almost as much as nominal output on a smaller luxury yacht. Owners and installers need room not only for the unit itself but also for filters, plumbing, maintenance access and membrane servicing, so a low-profile arrangement can make a watermaker practical where a taller conventional package would be difficult to accommodate.
Energy recovery keeps electrical demand to 110 watts
The central technical feature is Schenker’s energy-recovery system, which reduces the electrical power required by the high-pressure desalination process. The Qube 30 is rated at only 110 watts, allowing it to run directly from 12 or 24 V service batteries instead of requiring a dedicated AC supply or a separate generator-driven operating routine.
That low draw can be useful for owner-operated yachts spending long periods at anchor, particularly where solar charging or careful battery management already forms part of the electrical plan. It does not remove the need for proper energy budgeting, but it makes fresh-water production easier to integrate into a modest onboard power system.
The Qube family now spans three output levels
Schenker introduced the original Qube 65 and Qube 100 models at the previous Genoa show, with nominal outputs of 65 and 100 litres per hour. The Qube 30 extends the same design philosophy downward, giving smaller yachts a purpose-built option rather than asking owners to install a system sized for substantially greater demand.
The new model is being presented at the 66th Genoa International Boat Show, running from 1 to 6 October 2026. For prospective buyers, the useful comparison will be between daily water requirements, battery capacity, available installation volume and the practical maintenance access available aboard their particular yacht.
