A distinct open version of Saxdor's 400

The Saxdor 400 GTO appears in Barcelona International Boat Show's on-water catalogue for 14–18 October 2026. The organiser lists an overall length of 12.20 metres and beam of 3.55 metres, placing it within Luxury Yacht Guide’s 12-to-23.99-metre editorial sector. It should be distinguished from Saxdor's more enclosed 400 GTC and alternative 400 GTS models, which serve different priorities.

The GTO emphasises exposure to the open air and the ability to transform the deck for time at anchor. It appeals to boaters seeking a modern coastal platform with a covered driving position and flexible social arrangements. The listed appearance is not evidence of a new world premiere.

A cockpit with expanding side decks

Saxdor's concept uses opening side terraces to widen the usable aft deck when the yacht is stationary. The resulting space can make swimming and socialising feel less constrained than the boat's modest beam would otherwise suggest. The builder’s design places strong emphasis on transitions between the helm, lounge and water-access areas.

These features deserve a practical demonstration. Owners should establish how long the terraces take to deploy, what operating conditions are permitted and how drainage and mechanical access are managed. A yacht’s expanded deck measurement is not the same as its beam for marina berthing or operation under way.

Power and handling for coastal itineraries

The 400 GTO is associated with twin outboard propulsion, giving owners a familiar service route and supporting lively planing performance. The exact engine selection, fuel capacity and electronic systems should be checked against a dated manufacturer specification and the individual display hull. An attractive maximum speed under light loading does not answer how the yacht will perform with a full crew.

For couples considering independent cruising, handling close to the dock and visibility from the helm are as important as speed. The boat’s weather protection, noise levels and storage for covers and lines will also influence whether a day remains comfortable when conditions change.

More than a sun-lounger

Although its exterior identity is central to the GTO, accommodation below can support short overnight stays and a convenient base for coastal excursions. The effectiveness of that space is best judged on the actual boat: berth access, privacy, headroom, luggage stowage and ventilation may be more important than the number of photographs devoted to the saloon.

At Barcelona, prospective buyers can compare the open GTO with the more enclosed 400 GTC and evaluate which arrangement suits their seasonal cruising. A direct inspection and sea trial should inform the purchase, with after-sales service and optional equipment clearly recorded in the order. A useful boat-show test is to sit at the helm with the cockpit full of visitors and assess visibility over the bow and quarters. Prospective owners should also consider how easily the terraces and seating return to their secured positions before departure.
