A spacious power-catamaran option
Barcelona International Boat Show's official October 2026 catalogue lists the Leopard 46 PC among its Marina Port Vell exhibitors. With an advertised overall length of 14.44 metres and beam of 7.34 metres, it presents a markedly different cruising solution from similarly long monohull motor yachts. The twin-hull format creates a broad living platform but brings very different berthing requirements.
Leopard positions its power catamarans around comfortable voyages and practical guest arrangements. Buyers evaluating a first powercat should begin with the cruising region's berth availability and operating costs. Its length alone does not convey how much marina space the yacht will require.
A main deck built for everyday living
The 46 PC uses its wide beam to provide generous spaces for shared meals and relaxation, with the main saloon connected to the aft cockpit. The helm and exterior seating arrangements are intended to keep guests comfortable on board during both passages and time at anchor. The actual configuration will vary with production choices and options.
The practical test is to move through the boat while imagining a day with several guests, luggage and provisions. Access around the saloon, storage, steps and the relationship between galley and deck determine whether space feels genuinely useful. A wide beam can support excellent entertaining without necessarily simplifying every aspect of docking.
Efficiency claims and propulsion
Power-catamaran hulls are often discussed in terms of potentially efficient cruising at certain speeds. The Leopard 46 PC's real performance depends on its fitted engines, displacement, loading and sea conditions. Twin engines may give flexibility, but redundancy should not be interpreted as permission to neglect mechanical preparation or proper passage planning.
A prospective buyer should request verified consumption figures at several speeds and inspect the location of engines and service points in each hull. Generator, air-conditioning and electrical loads can materially change fuel use during extended stays aboard, particularly in warm climates.
What makes the show inspection valuable
The twin hulls create opportunities for separation between guest accommodation and living spaces, which can be attractive for a family cruise or a group of couples. Visitors should compare privacy, headroom and the location of cabins against their anticipated crew arrangements. A generous bridge deck does not eliminate considerations such as ventilation and privacy at night.
The October catalogue confirms an on-water exhibit, not that a specific new edition is making a premiere. Sea trials, warranty arrangements, actual equipment lists and delivery terms should be obtained from the dealer. For owners who have only experienced monohulls, the Barcelona show offers a useful chance to assess the powercat layout in person. Its layout may favour families who appreciate having separate private sleeping areas, but bridge-deck clearance and behaviour in a head sea also deserve investigation during a proper trial. Every yacht design brings compromises alongside its distinctive comforts.
