OMAYA Yachts has released fuller plans for the new OMAYA 53, a 16.03-metre power catamaran developed as the second model in the Bulgarian builder's range. The design expands on the OMAYA 50 platform with more aft volume, revised machinery placement and a choice of private-owner or charter-focused accommodation.
Extra length is concentrated aft
Rather than simply stretching the existing platform evenly, OMAYA has added much of the extra length around the transoms. Moving the engines and technical spaces farther aft creates more usable volume in the hulls and increases separation between the machinery and the owner's sleeping area.
Owner and charter layouts
In the owner configuration, the port hull is reserved for a large primary suite while two guest cabins occupy the starboard hull. A four-cabin charter arrangement is also planned, with more evenly sized en-suite guest cabins plus separate crew accommodation.
First OMAYA designed around Volvo Penta IPS
The OMAYA 53 is planned with twin Volvo Penta D6-IPS400 units as standard, with IPS450, 500, 600 and 650 options also under consideration. Current engineering estimates indicate a 23-knot maximum speed, 15-knot cruise and about 650 nautical miles of range, although those figures remain preliminary until the first yacht completes sea trials.
16 metres with an 8.39-metre beam
The model measures 16.03 metres overall with an 8.39-metre beam and 1.05-metre draft. OMAYA says the wide platform is intended to deliver the living space and flexibility of a substantially larger yacht while remaining within a size that private owners can use for extended family cruising.
