A new flagship for Riviera's SUV family

Australian builder Riviera has announced the 735 SUV as the next flagship of its SUV range, combining a 24.26-metre overall length with the single-level living arrangement familiar from the company's established models. The yacht remains a future product rather than a boat already delivered to owners: Riviera's official model page identifies its world premiere for 2027. The announcement is consequently an early look at design and equipment choices, not a report from completed independent sea trials.

The 735 SUV is positioned between two familiar philosophies. From Riviera's Sports Motor Yachts it takes offshore capability, deck space and flexibility for serious water activities, while the Sport Yacht influence brings the saloon and open-air entertaining areas together on one level. This combination is important to buyers who want long-distance comfort without sacrificing the ability to use a boat regularly for a weekend, fishing trip or family gathering.

Riviera's preliminary dimensions include a six-metre beam and a maximum draft of 1.93 metres. The hull length measured to ISO standards is 22.02 metres, distinctly shorter than the overall measurement, which incorporates the swim platform and bowsprit. Buyers comparing models should therefore identify which measurement is being used, rather than assuming every quoted length reflects the same physical part of the yacht.

Cockpit space and the boarding platform

The aft cockpit covers a stated 16.32 square metres, giving the owner room for outdoor activities and social gatherings. Riviera proposes a wet bar, barbecue, refrigeration and equipment selected according to the way the yacht will actually be used. Those who fish, dive or entertain several generations can make different choices from the same general platform, although each option affects cost, storage and maintenance requirements.

The builder's optional boarding platform can change position to create steps below water level or meet a higher quay. Such an arrangement has obvious benefits for swimming and marina access, but it also needs careful attention to safety, hydraulic operation and the environment in which the yacht will be berthed. A buyer should inspect the full operating sequence before treating a brochure rendering as evidence that every boarding situation will be simple.

For sport fishing, Riviera lists possible equipment including rod holders, a live bait tank, outriggers and outlets for electric reels and downriggers. These are options rather than a promise that every 735 SUV is delivered with a complete fishing installation. The most successful specification will be based on real owner use, protecting cockpit space for other activities when extensive fishing gear is not needed.

The alfresco deck and an owner-centred layout

The saloon door and opening awning window are intended to connect the aft alfresco deck with the interior living area, effectively creating a larger single-level entertaining space. An electric sunroof introduces further daylight and an open-air character when conditions permit. The design idea is not unusual in modern motor yachts, but the integration at this size gives Riviera a way to combine offshore practicality with a more residential guest experience.

Forward, a separate entertaining deck provides seating for eight or more people, allowing guests to move away from the busier aft areas. This matters on a yacht where family members may want different activities at the same time. A shaded conversation, a meal at anchor and access to watersports equipment do not all need to take place in the same part of the vessel.

The main saloon incorporates timber cabinetry, substantial lounge space and a galley intended to support more than occasional snacks. Extensive refrigeration and beverage storage are part of the published design, while the relationship between the galley and alfresco area is central to the social plan. Buyers should still review ventilation, crew workflow and storage in an actual build before deciding whether the layout meets their needs.

Four cabins and an optional crew arrangement

Below decks, the new model is planned with four staterooms and three bathrooms. The full-beam owner's suite includes a king-size bed, hull-side windows, storage and a private refreshment area. A forward VIP cabin also has its own bathroom, while the two remaining cabins are intended to accommodate guests or family members. Riviera lists a total sleeping capacity of eight to eleven people, depending on configuration.

An aft access stair leads to a day-head, machinery space and an area that can be arranged as either a crew cabin or a utility room. That choice changes how the boat might be operated. A couple cruising independently may prefer equipment storage and a small workshop; an owner intending to carry a professional crewmember will need a proper cabin and arrangements that make crew accommodation practical.

Riviera has described the 735 SUV as suitable for operation by a couple, but this is a design ambition rather than a blanket recommendation for every owner or every passage. Training, experience, local regulations and weather remain decisive. A large motor yacht with substantial power and windage requires sound judgement, and equipment intended to assist docking cannot remove those requirements.

Propulsion, range planning and the 2027 premiere

Riviera lists two shaft-drive engine choices: twin MAN V12 diesels producing either 2,000 horsepower each or 2,200 horsepower each. With a stated fuel capacity of 10,000 litres, the 735 SUV has been configured for extended cruising. The company has not supplied an independently verified fuel-consumption curve or full-range table with this preliminary announcement, so precise passage ranges should not be inferred from tank capacity alone.

Low-speed handling is supported by joystick controls at the helm and in the cockpit. Optional equipment includes Sentinel remote monitoring, Praxis solar charging, Humphree stabilising fins, a Seakeeper 18 gyrostabiliser and Starlink connectivity. These systems can add convenience or comfort, but their effectiveness and combined installation requirements should be evaluated against an owner's operating profile and maintenance expectations.

The 735 SUV is a significant addition to Riviera's design direction, bringing a broad outdoor programme and flexible accommodation to a yacht just over twenty-four metres overall. Its official 2027 world premiere will provide a clearer opportunity to examine fit, finish and real-world performance. Until then, the published specifications should be treated as preliminary, and owners considering an order should verify current details directly with Riviera or an authorised representative.
