Hybrid availability expands the propulsion choices

ILIAD now marks the 53S as available in hybrid form, giving buyers an alternative to the conventional diesel installations offered on the same platform. The builder continues to list Volvo or Yanmar 440-horsepower engines and optional Cummins 550-horsepower power for conventional configurations.

The hybrid option is important because long-range power catamarans already benefit from efficient hull forms at moderate speeds. Adding electrified operation can further change how hotel loads, low-speed manoeuvring and propulsion demand are managed during extended cruising.

The sedan profile is designed around lower air draft

Unlike the flybridge version, the 53S uses a low sedan silhouette intended to reduce height restrictions on inland waterways while retaining offshore capability. The main deck combines helm, dining and lounge areas beneath large windows and a broad overhead skylight.

This configuration gives owners a protected central living space without the additional height and weight of a flybridge. It can be particularly useful for routes where bridges or weather protection matter more than a second outdoor helm position.

Range is a defining part of the platform

ILIAD publishes a range of more than 2,500 nautical miles for the 53S at economical speed, supported by 3,500 litres of fuel capacity. The builder's broader design philosophy prioritises efficient cruising rather than chasing the highest possible top speed.

The conventional 440-horsepower engine packages produce a published lightship maximum around 21 knots, while long-range operation occurs at much lower speeds. Real autonomy will vary with weather, loading, hull condition and electrical demand, especially when hybrid systems are fitted.

One hull is dedicated to the owner's suite

The 7.63-metre beam creates enough space for a substantial owner's suite occupying an entire hull, alongside generous guest accommodation and a large main-deck saloon. A forward lounge and broad cockpit further expand the social areas available around the yacht.
