Cay Electronics is scheduled to demonstrate its CayCube solid-state onboard power system at IBEX 2026 in Tampa, positioning stored energy as an alternative to running a conventional generator for selected loads. The maker lists the October show on its official events page and offers different power and storage configurations.
Yacht owners considering quieter nights at anchor need to distinguish stored energy from energy generation. The system can supply hotel loads without a running engine for a period, but it requires a planned route for recharging between uses.
Power without a running genset
CayCube uses batteries and inverters to supply AC electricity for appliances, air-conditioning and other onboard systems. Running those loads from stored energy can reduce local noise and exhaust during an interval when a combustion generator remains off.
The company lists three configurations, with lower and higher continuous power and energy-storage levels. A published peak rating should not be confused with the power available indefinitely in warm machinery spaces.
The recharge arrangement matters
The official product material identifies shore power, a conventional generator and a propulsion-engine alternator among possible charging methods. Solar or wind input can contribute where the installation and cruising conditions support it.
An owner spending several nights at anchor must balance expected consumption against usable capacity and the time available to recharge. A large air-conditioning load can exhaust the reserve more quickly than intermittent lights or electronics.
Engineering for a particular yacht
IBEX takes place at Tampa Convention Center from 6 to 8 October, where suppliers can discuss specifications with builders and refit yards. The intended integration includes electrical protections, space, weight and the vessel's existing energy-management scheme.
For a 12–23.99-metre yacht, an owner should request a real load study and written warranty before selecting the configuration. A show demonstration is not vessel-level certification, and any existing generator may remain useful for redundancy.
