Boero Yacht Coatings is using the 2026 Monaco Yacht Show to launch BoeroCoat UHB, an Ultra High Build & Undercoat product developed to reduce the number of layers required during yacht construction and refit. The system combines high filling capacity with the functions of an undercoat, allowing several conventional preparation stages to be consolidated.
The product is relevant well beyond the superyacht market because surface preparation, labour time and coating consumption affect builders and refit yards across the yacht-size spectrum. Boero says the aim is to shorten the painting cycle without sacrificing the surface quality needed before final topcoats are applied.
High-build filling and undercoat in one stage
Traditional yacht coating systems can require separate products for filling, high-build surfacing and undercoat preparation. BoeroCoat UHB is designed to perform more than one of those functions, reducing the number of coats and intermediate operations needed before finishing.
Boero also highlights ease of application and sanding as part of the product’s intended benefit for applicators. A smoother preparation cycle can reduce repeated handling, curing and sanding stages while creating the foundation for the final cosmetic finish.
Boero cites lower material use and VOC emissions
Reducing the number of layers also cuts the quantity of coating and associated consumables used in the process. Boero says this lowers working time and volatile-organic-compound emissions, while Marine Industry News reports a company figure of about 60 percent lower VOC emissions than a comparable standard product.
That percentage is a manufacturer comparison rather than an independent lifecycle assessment, so actual savings will depend on the coating specification and application. Even so, reducing individual coating stages can have a measurable operational effect where large surface areas are being prepared.
Blue Wake selection at Monaco
BoeroCoat UHB has been selected for the Monaco Yacht Show’s Blue Wake programme, which highlights products and services presented with an environmental-impact reduction focus. Boero is exhibiting at stand AL36 on Quai Albert Ier during the show from 23 to 26 September.
The company is also using Monaco to discuss its technical work with Ferrari Hypersail and its wider ChallengerPRO finishing range. Together, those activities put the emphasis on process efficiency as much as colour and gloss, reflecting the increasing technical demands placed on modern yacht coating systems.
