Brunswick Corporation has appointed Áine Denari as chief executive with effect from 1 January 2027, succeeding David Foulkes when he retires at the end of this year. Denari will also join the Brunswick board, while lead independent director David Everitt will become non-executive chairman.
The succession matters across the recreational-marine sector because Brunswick’s portfolio spans propulsion, electronics, parts and boatbuilding. Its brands include Mercury Marine, Simrad, Lowrance, Sea Ray and Boston Whaler, making group-level decisions relevant to builders and owners throughout the 12-to-23.99-metre market.
Denari moves from Navico Group and technology leadership
Denari currently serves as executive vice president and president of Navico Group as well as Brunswick’s chief technology officer. She moved into that dual role in 2024 after previously leading Brunswick Boat Group.
Brunswick says her recent responsibilities have included the group’s technology strategy, advanced development and marine autonomy work. Navico Group also houses marine-electronics brands used extensively aboard production motor yachts and sailing yachts, including Simrad and Lowrance.
Foulkes leaves after eight years as chief executive
Foulkes will retire after eight years as Brunswick chief executive. The company says the transition is the result of a board succession-planning process and that Foulkes will work with Denari through the handover period.
Everitt’s move to non-executive chairman separates the board-chair role from the incoming chief executive position. That gives Denari responsibility for operating leadership while the board changes its own structure at the same time.
Marine technology remains central to the group
Brunswick employs about 14,500 people in 26 countries and owns more than 60 marine brands. The breadth of that portfolio means the chief executive oversees businesses ranging from complete boats to engines, navigation displays, digital systems and aftermarket equipment.
Denari said the company intends to continue the strategy outlined at its 2026 Investor Day, with technology-enabled boating remaining a central theme. Her appointment puts an executive with direct responsibility for both boatbuilding and marine technology at the head of the group from the start of 2027.
