A fresh listing in a distinctive size bracket

Northrop & Johnson announced on 2 November 2026 that the 2023-built Van der Valk EDGE 65 has entered its sales fleet, with an advertised asking price of $4,495,000. Brokers Elvis Sipe and David Michie are handling the listing. Rather than following the familiar formula for a 20-metre flybridge cruiser, EDGE brings an aluminium Dutch-built structure, four large outboard engines and a shallow-water cruising brief to a part of the market usually served by very different types of yacht.

There is a small measurement difference between the published sources: Northrop & Johnson describes the yacht as 65 feet 7 inches, approximately 19.99 metres, while builder Van der Valk lists the EDGE 65 model at 19.60 metres overall. Those are the figures published by the respective parties, and buyers should refer to the vessel's certified particulars for any contractual purpose. What is consistent across the sources is the boat's 2023 construction, four-engine layout and deliberately unusual blend of speed and usable deck area.

Four V12 outboards and a 40-knot claim

The power installation is central to the design. Four Mercury V12 Verado outboards, each rated at 600 horsepower, provide a combined 2,400 horsepower and leave the yacht's machinery largely outside the accommodation footprint. Northrop & Johnson advertises a cruising speed of 27 knots and a maximum of 40 knots. The builder's own model specification gives a 25-knot cruise and the same top-speed figure, so the figures should be read as published performance claims rather than a new independent sea-trial result.

Petestep hull technology is another defining feature. Van der Valk worked with the Swedish specialist on three V-shaped deflectors intended to redirect spray and improve running behaviour, an approach developed alongside the hull's naval architecture by Studio Delta. The brokerage listing also identifies joystick manoeuvring and Seakeeper gyroscopic stabilisation. These systems serve different purposes: the outboards and hull address how the boat travels, while the joystick and gyro are aimed at making handling and time at anchor easier for the people aboard.

Why shallow draft matters in the Bahamas

EDGE has a reported draft of around three feet, or 0.92 metres, a conspicuous advantage for owners who choose itineraries around sandy bays, coastal islands and channels with limited depth. The brokerage positions the yacht particularly for South Florida and the Bahamas. A shallow draft does not remove the need for proper pilotage, tide checks or local knowledge, but it can expand the range of anchorages an owner may consider when compared with similarly sized yachts drawing substantially more water.

Northrop & Johnson quotes a range of 215 nautical miles and describes the vessel as CE Class B Coastal. This makes the most useful editorial comparison a practical one: EDGE is designed around relatively swift passages between accessible destinations and generous living space once there, rather than being marketed as a long-range displacement explorer. The actual distance available in any conditions will depend on speed, loading, weather, reserve policy and fuel consumption. Prospective buyers should ask for documented operating figures before planning demanding passages.

Fold-out terraces extend the waterside living area

The broad aft cockpit is intended to change character after arrival. Fold-down terraces enlarge the usable waterside platform, creating more room for lounging, informal meals and movement between the yacht and the sea. Builder information describes the full outdoor platform arrangement as spanning approximately 48 square metres. Large aft openings connect this space to the main-deck interior, giving family groups the kind of open circulation usually associated with a much larger platform when the yacht is stationary.

This arrangement is particularly relevant to the yacht's intended usage. A fast boat can cover ground quickly, but its value on a family weekend is often measured in the quality of time spent not moving. The terraces give swimmers and guests a defined place near the water, while the main-deck social area provides an indoor retreat. As with any folding platform, the precise operating limits, deck loading and safety procedures need to be understood by the crew before use.

Three cabins within a custom Dutch interior

Carla Guilhem Design created the interior programme, with exterior styling by Cor D. Rover. According to the listing, six overnight guests can be accommodated in three cabins: an owner's room with a double berth and two guest rooms arranged with twin berths. The emphasis is on an intimate family or friends' group, not the maximum berth count sometimes advertised in this size category. Daylight through expansive glazing and direct access between the saloon and cockpit reinforce the sense of a yacht organised around informal shared time.

The design story matters because a quad-outboard 20-metre yacht could easily be mistaken for a large dayboat. EDGE instead has private overnight accommodation, two guest heads and supporting domestic equipment, including a Northern Lights 16-kilowatt generator and a watermaker. Those systems do not change her coastal operating brief, but they make an overnight stay or a succession of island stops more realistic. A careful buyer should inspect the fit-out, service access and current maintenance records as closely as the external styling.

What the $4.495 million offer represents

The broker's announced price places EDGE within a competitive segment where buyers can choose between high-speed sports yachts, conventional flybridge designs and new-build opportunities. Her argument is not that she offers the largest accommodation volume for the money; it is that the owner can combine Dutch aluminium construction, distinctive shallow-water handling and a highly social deck plan in one package. The listing also shows the yacht in the Fort Lauderdale area, where the Bahamas-oriented brief has an obvious geographical relevance.

Northrop & Johnson's individual yacht listing and the builder's published EDGE 65 information independently support the principal construction, design and propulsion particulars. Availability, asking price and equipment condition can change, and a brokerage advertisement is not a survey report or a warranty of future performance. Interested buyers should therefore confirm the current sales status, inventory, operating hours, survey findings and applicable sale restrictions directly with the appointed brokers. This coverage reports a 2 November 2026 listing announcement, not a completed transaction.
