Smartgyro has introduced native integration with compatible Raymarine Axiom chartplotters, allowing owners to monitor and control supported gyroscopic stabilisers from the same display used for navigation. The update reduces the need for a separate stabiliser control screen and brings another major onboard system into the central helm interface.
Control moves onto the primary helm display
The integration lets users view system information and access stabiliser controls through Axiom rather than relying solely on a dedicated panel. Consolidating controls can make a helm cleaner and reduce the number of interfaces an owner or skipper has to learn.
Stabilisation becomes part of the wider vessel network
Gyroscopic stabilisers are increasingly treated as connected yacht systems rather than isolated machinery. Bringing Smartgyro into Axiom follows the broader trend toward networked helms where navigation, cameras, propulsion data and comfort systems can all be monitored from a smaller number of displays.
Installation still needs careful system design
A shared interface does not remove the need for proper electrical, network and fallback design. Owners should confirm which Smartgyro models and Axiom software versions are supported and retain a clear understanding of how the stabiliser can be controlled if the main multifunction display is unavailable.
Integrated helms are becoming the ownership expectation
For yachts in the 12–24m market, owners increasingly expect major equipment to communicate rather than behave like separate islands. The Smartgyro-Raymarine connection is therefore important less for the novelty of one screen controlling another system and more for what it says about the direction of complete yacht integration.
