Saxdor Yachts is expanding production in Poland with a second facility that will add about 10,000 square metres of manufacturing space in Ełk. The move follows strong demand for the Finnish brand’s larger models, particularly the 460 platform now offered in GTC and GTS forms.
Chief executive Erna Rusi told Marine Industry News that production capacity had limited how many boats Saxdor could supply in the larger day-boat category. Saxdor says the 460 range has already generated a strong commercial response in Europe and the United States, with the current year’s production slots previously reported as sold out.
460 range drives the capacity decision
The 460 GTC established Saxdor’s new flagship platform earlier in 2026, followed by the open 460 GTS at the Cannes Yachting Festival. The GTS sits firmly inside Luxury Yacht Guide’s 12-to-23.99-metre coverage and extends the platform toward owners who prioritise open-air deck space.
Rusi said Saxdor had been told that annual sales above 60 units in this size category would be difficult, but the company exceeded that level and believed it could have sold more without the production constraint. The extra Polish space is therefore intended to turn existing market demand into higher output rather than simply enlarge the factory footprint.
Second Ełk facility adds room for larger yachts
The additional 10,000m² facility is significant because larger models require more assembly area, logistics space and production time than Saxdor’s smaller boats. As the range moves upward in size, the builder has to increase not only hull output but also the space available for systems installation, finishing and quality control.
The expansion also gives Saxdor more flexibility to build both the enclosed GTC and open GTS derivatives from the same 460 platform. That approach can spread engineering and tooling costs while allowing the company to address different climates and boating styles with closely related models.
Cannes response feeds into the next production cycle
Saxdor presented the 460 GTS as its new open flagship at Cannes in September. The model uses the same underlying platform as the GTC but places greater emphasis on walkaround circulation, transforming social areas and outdoor use.
The production expansion now links that product launch to a wider industrial decision. If the new capacity comes on stream as planned, Saxdor will have more room to satisfy demand for the 460 family while continuing production of the smaller models that established the brand’s rapid growth.
