Nautor Swan will bring the new Swan 51 to the Newport International Boat Show in Rhode Island from 17 to 20 September 2026. The yacht will be displayed at Dock N-10 following its introduction to the North American market.
The Newport appearance gives US sailors another opportunity to inspect a model that sits between the Swan 48 and Swan 55 in the builder's current performance-cruising range. Nautor Swan positions the 51 as a yacht intended to combine responsive sailing with the comfort and manageable systems required for owner-operated cruising.
A modern return to an important Swan name
The Swan 51 name has particular significance for the Finnish builder because the original model was the first Nautor Swan designed by Germán Frers. The new generation continues that relationship while applying current hull, deck and interior thinking to a 16.90-metre overall length.
Frers' latest hull uses twin rudders and a mast position moved farther toward the centre of the yacht to improve balance. A bow thruster is standard, while the fixed bowsprit carries the anchor clear of the bow and supports the yacht's short-handed cruising brief.
Wide-body cockpit and three-cabin interior
Nautor Swan says the cockpit has usable width comparable with a larger yacht, helped by a wide-body coaming arrangement that retains functional side decks. Two cockpit tables can be converted to sunbathing areas or combined into a larger dining arrangement.
Below deck, the Swan 51 uses a three-cabin layout with an owner's cabin forward and two guest cabins aft. The saloon, chart table, seating and storage can be configured around different owner preferences, while Misa Poggi's interior programme offers multiple material and colour themes.
16.90 metres with offshore-cruising systems
Official specifications give the Swan 51 an LOA of 16.90 metres, a 15.55-metre hull length and a 4.85-metre beam. Standard draft is 2.45 metres, with a 2.05-metre shallow-draft option available for owners who need access to more restricted anchorages.
Power comes from an 80hp Yanmar 4JH80 diesel. Tankage is 650 litres of fuel and 500 litres of fresh water, while the standard electrical specification includes a 24V service bank, shore power and battery charging suitable for extended cruising use.
Newport strengthens the model's US presence
Nautor Swan describes Newport as an important step in expanding the Swan 51's North American presence. The show is one of the major US sailing-yacht gatherings and puts the model in front of owners who may be comparing performance cruisers in the 50- to 55-foot sector.
