KAT is now on the brokerage market, a 23.96-metre expedition sailing yacht with a record of two completed circumnavigations. The length places her just below Luxury Yacht Guide's 24.00-metre ceiling, with Bernard Gallay Yacht Brokerage acting as central agent.
Built in Itajaí, Brazil, in 2014, the custom yacht was designed by Nestor Volker, with naval architecture by Volker and Ricardo Marcelo Rinaldi. A steel hull and stainless-steel superstructure form part of a vessel engineered for long-distance sailing.
Two circumnavigations, not just an expedition brief
Her first circumnavigation was Expedição Oriente between 2014 and 2016, followed by Voice of the Oceans from 2021 to 2025. According to the broker, KAT has also visited Patagonia, South Georgia and Cape Horn.
The same captain and crew remained with the yacht during those expeditions, creating an unusual operational continuity for a brokerage vessel. Buyers can use that history as a starting point when reviewing logs and maintenance documents.
A hydraulic keel broadens access
A hydraulic lifting keel designed by Horácio Carabell reduces draft from 5.20 metres to 2.20 metres. The arrangement makes it possible to plan for shallower coastal locations without giving up a deep-keel configuration at sea.
The broker quotes a motoring range of up to 2,800 nautical miles and 3,200 litres of freshwater capacity. A watermaker rated at 200 litres per hour and solar, wind and hydro generation add to the yacht's long-range autonomy.
Refit records matter
A 2021 refit prepared KAT for the Voice of the Oceans programme and included two new Volvo Penta engines. The yacht also spent 90 days ashore in New Zealand during an extensive 2024 refit.
Those projects are useful dates to examine, but a survey must still address hull, machinery and lifting-keel condition. The broker reports a continuing preventive-maintenance programme rather than a single recent cosmetic refurbishment.
Four guest cabins and a working cockpit
The accommodation provides four guest cabins for ten people, with separate crew accommodation for four. The saloon includes a dining area for ten and the twin-helm cockpit has seating for more than fifteen around folding tables.
KAT is lying in Itajaí, where a prospective buyer can arrange a viewing through the central agent. The announcement does not include an asking price, so current terms should be obtained directly from the broker.
