Garmin has been selected as an Official Supplier to Luna Rossa for the Italian team’s campaign toward the 38th America’s Cup in Naples in 2027. The agreement covers the full campaign and places Garmin navigation, communication, mapping, lighting, switching and audio systems aboard the team’s chase boats.

The partnership extends an existing relationship between Garmin and Luna Rossa rather than beginning from a blank sheet. For Garmin, the programme gives its production marine electronics exposure in an environment where chase boats must operate quickly, reliably and in close support of a highly technical racing yacht.

Chase boats carry a broad Garmin package

Garmin says the support fleet will use equipment including GPSMAP 9000-series chartplotters, Garmin Navionics Vision+ cartography and quatix 8 Pro watches, alongside the company’s communication, digital-switching, lighting and audio products. The result is a multi-system installation rather than a single sponsored instrument.

Chase boats need fast route planning, dependable communications and clear situational awareness while operating around foiling race yachts and support traffic. That makes system integration more important than any one display specification, because the crew must access information without slowing the operation.

The partnership runs through the Naples campaign

The supplier agreement covers Luna Rossa’s full build-up to the 38th America’s Cup, which is scheduled for Naples in 2027. A long campaign gives Garmin more opportunity to gather operating feedback than a one-event sponsorship would provide.

Testing equipment over repeated training sessions can expose installation, interface and durability issues that may not appear in normal recreational use. The lessons are potentially relevant to high-performance tenders and chase boats used by yacht owners as well as to the racing programme itself.

Production electronics enter a demanding environment

America’s Cup support craft sit in an unusual middle ground because they need commercial-style reliability, sports-boat performance and the finish expected from premium marine equipment. Garmin’s role therefore puts mainstream products into a demanding real-world environment without requiring bespoke race-only hardware.

That can be valuable for yacht buyers because proven interfaces and service networks often matter more than exotic specifications. Equipment that works consistently in a high-tempo campaign may also suit owners who expect their own boats to be used frequently rather than kept primarily for display.

The deal reinforces Garmin’s sailing presence

Garmin has built a large marine portfolio across navigation, autopilot, communications and onboard control, and the Luna Rossa agreement gives the brand another high-profile sailing reference. The partnership also links its equipment with one of the most technically advanced sailing campaigns in the world.

For Luxury Yacht Guide, the story is less about logo placement and more about integrated electronics being tested on real chase boats. That makes the collaboration relevant to owners considering complete helm ecosystems rather than individual stand-alone devices.
