Gooding Christie’s will stage its first Swiss collector-car auction in Geneva on November 8, bringing 17 cars to the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues during Christie’s Luxury Week. Every vehicle will be offered without reserve, creating a tightly focused sale built largely around modern, exceptionally low-mileage Ferraris rather than a broad catalogue spanning many decades.
The move gives Gooding Christie’s a new European auction location after the integration of Gooding & Company with Christie’s. Geneva is a natural fit because the city already attracts international collectors for watches, jewellery and luxury objects, allowing the motor-car sale to sit inside an established week of high-value private-client activity.
Modern Ferraris dominate the first Geneva catalogue
The headline group includes a 2023 Ferrari 812 Competizione Aperta estimated at CHF1.7 million to CHF1.9 million and a 2025 812 Competizione Coupé guided at CHF1.4 million to CHF1.6 million. Both represent the final development of Ferrari’s naturally aspirated V12 front-engined 812 family and have already become highly sought after among collectors.
A 2025 SF90 XX Spider carries an estimate of CHF1.5 million to CHF1.7 million, while a 2016 F12tdf is expected to bring CHF1.4 million to CHF1.6 million. The selection gives the sale a strong emphasis on limited-production road cars that combine modern performance with scarcity and near-new condition.
Pairs of recent special-series cars widen the choice
The catalogue also includes pairs of Ferrari 488 Pista models, 296 Speciale variants and 12Cilindri examples. Offering closely related cars together allows collectors to compare specification, body style and mileage directly rather than waiting months for another suitable example to appear at auction.
Low mileage is a defining feature across much of the Ferrari group. That can appeal strongly to collectors focused on originality and preservation, although it also highlights the continuing tension in modern-car collecting between using these machines as intended and protecting the condition that supports future value.
The no-reserve format should produce genuine market signals
Every lot will sell to the highest bidder because there are no reserves. This removes uncertainty over whether a car has actually changed hands and can make the auction particularly useful as a market reference for relatively new limited-production models.
No-reserve selling also concentrates risk and opportunity on the auction room. Strong demand can drive competitive results, while softer bidding cannot be protected by a confidential minimum, making condition, provenance and pre-sale inspection especially important for both consignors and buyers.
Geneva connects cars with watches and jewellery collectors
The sale takes place within Christie’s Luxury Week, when Geneva already draws buyers for important watches and jewellery. Many collectors participate across several categories, and the addition of motor cars creates a more complete luxury-collecting itinerary without requiring clients to travel to another city.
That crossover is visible in the wider week, which includes rare watches from Michael Schumacher’s private collection and important F.P. Journe pieces. Motorsport history, high horology and modern supercars naturally share part of the same collector audience, particularly among clients interested in engineering and limited production.
A Swiss sale gives Gooding Christie’s another global anchor
Previewing will run from November 6 to 8 before the auction on the final day. The Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues provides a central setting close to Geneva’s established watch and jewellery district, making physical inspection straightforward for clients already in the city.
For collectors travelling by private aviation or combining Geneva with Mediterranean yachting at the end of the season, the timing is practical. More importantly, the first sale tests whether Gooding Christie’s can make Geneva a recurring collector-car destination alongside its established auctions in the United States and other international venues.
