Four Seasons Hotel George V Paris has unveiled a Galette des Rois for the 2027 Epiphany season, combining classic almond filling with roasted pecans. The cake is designed by head baker Guillaume Cabrol and serves eight people.
Its visual surprise comes from a fève made individually by French artist Justine Langlade, hidden inside each cake. The announcement provides concrete pre-order and collection dates for people planning a festive Paris visit.
A traditional filling with floral notes
Cabrol's creation uses laminated leavened pastry around a frangipane filling with delicate floral character. Roasted and caramelised pecans add a crunch above the more familiar almond centre.
The approach remains recognisably Galette des Rois while adding a richer surface texture. It is a cake designed for sharing rather than an individual plated restaurant dessert.
A small artwork inside
The fève is the traditional hidden object that makes one diner the ceremonial king or queen. George V has commissioned Langlade to create each token by hand, with no two identical.
The contribution turns an Epiphany ritual into a small collectible object. Guests should take care when serving because the fève is intentionally concealed within the cake.
Ordering dates and price
Pre-orders open on 15 October 2026, with hotel collection available from 26 December through 3 January 2027 inclusive. The announced price is €85 for a cake serving eight.
That date range includes the close of the Christmas holiday and New Year's period rather than a year-round patisserie sale. Buyers should check pickup availability before planning around it.
A different festive creation
George V's pastry team is also making a separate Yule log for Christmas, already covered in LYG's earlier Lifestyle reporting. The Galette des Rois has its own baker, recipe and Epiphany collection window.
This story concerns the newly announced King's Cake rather than repeating the Yule log's concept. Current ordering instructions should be obtained directly from the hotel.
