Bvlgari has introduced a limited-edition collection of minaudières built around five of the Roman house’s best-known design signatures. Rather than treating the evening bag as a neutral container, the collection turns each piece into a compact object that borrows directly from Bvlgari’s jewellery vocabulary.

The five references are Monete, Serpenti, Tubogas, Divas’ Dream and Bvlgari Bvlgari. Together they span different periods of the house’s design history and give the collection a broader character than a single seasonal motif.

Jewellery codes move into a functional object

The central idea is to translate elements normally associated with jewellery into an accessory that still has to open, close, carry essentials and feel comfortable in the hand. That makes the engineering as important as the decoration because the object has to work at a scale where mechanisms and surface finishing are immediately visible.

Bvlgari describes each minaudière as an objet d’art rather than simply a handbag. The distinction matters because the pieces are intended to be read from every angle, closer to the way a piece of jewellery is handled than a conventional leather accessory.

Five symbols give the collection different personalities

Monete draws on ancient coin references, while Serpenti brings the snake motif that has become one of the house’s most recognisable signatures. Tubogas introduces the industrially inspired coil language associated with flexible jewellery, and Divas’ Dream brings a fan-shaped motif rooted in Roman architecture.

Bvlgari Bvlgari takes a more graphic approach through the double-logo device. By placing these codes side by side, the collection shows how strongly a luxury house can rely on recognisable design language without producing objects that look identical.

The campaign treats the pieces as cultural symbols

The launch campaign was photographed by Ethan James Green and features Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Linda Evangelista, Kim Ji-won, Isabella Rossellini and Sumayya Vally. Each figure is paired with a different minaudière and the values Bvlgari associates with the corresponding icon.

That approach shifts the emphasis away from a simple product catalogue. The bags are presented as symbols with narratives around strength, transformation, wisdom, allure and identity, extending the jewellery house’s storytelling into a new format.

Small luxury objects suit yacht and resort life naturally

For yacht owners and guests, a minaudière is one of the rare formal accessories that makes practical sense in compact living. It is small enough to move easily between cabin, tender, car and restaurant while still adding a strong visual statement to evening clothes.

The collection also illustrates a wider trend in luxury: the most interesting accessories increasingly sit between categories. A Bvlgari minaudière can be read as jewellery, design object and bag at the same time, which is precisely why it works within the broader lifestyle world around yachting.
