Itama

Itama is an Italian builder specialising in open performance yachts. The brand was founded in Rome in 1969 by designer Mario Amati, whose concept combined clean Mediterranean styling with fast, capable hulls. Itama records the move from its early wooden boats to fibreglass construction in 1979, when the Itama 38 helped establish the blue-and-white profile and deep-V character that became closely associated with the marque.

Itama joined Ferretti Group in 2004 and remains part of the group's yacht portfolio. The modern range continues the open-yacht approach rather than moving toward conventional enclosed flybridge layouts.

Itama luxury yachts from 13.82 to 23.54 metres

Luxury Yacht Guide currently covers five Itama production models across almost the entire 12.00–23.99 metre sector. They are the Itama 45RS, Itama 54, Itama 62RS, Itama 70 and Itama 75.

This gives buyers a useful progression through the range. The 13.82-metre 45RS is the compact entry point, while the 16.44-metre 54 adds greater cruising accommodation. The 19.03-metre 62RS moves firmly into high-performance luxury-yacht territory, and the 20.93-metre 70 combines three-cabin accommodation with the brand's open-deck identity.

Performance-oriented open yachts

Performance is central to the Itama proposition. The 45RS is published with a 34-knot maximum speed, while the 62RS reaches a published 40 knots. At the top of the Luxury Yacht Guide range, the 23.54-metre Itama 75 uses twin MTU diesels and surface drives and carries a published maximum speed of 42.5 knots.

The models are therefore best compared with express cruisers, open yachts and sports yachts rather than with volume-oriented motor yachts of similar length. Large exterior cockpits, low profiles and direct connection with the sea take priority over maximising enclosed upper-deck volume.

Which Itama model?

The choice within the range depends principally on required accommodation and size. The 45RS is suited to short coastal use and weekending; the 54 introduces a larger two-cabin cruising platform; the 62RS offers three cabins with 40-knot capability; and the 70 provides a more substantial three-cabin yacht. The flagship 75 moves closest to the 24-metre boundary and adds the machinery, range and accommodation expected of a large performance yacht.
