A forty-year distribution relationship changes shape

Yanmar Marine International, based in Almere in the Netherlands, will manage distribution of its recreational marine products directly in Italy from late 2026. Cartello has represented the manufacturer nationally since 1985 and will continue working with Yanmar after the transition under a different contractual role.

The supplier describes the change as a planned adjustment to distribution management rather than the closure of Cartello's Genoa-area facilities. Existing owners and yards should expect further information about contacts, ordering and dealer support as the new arrangements come into force.

Cartello remains a dealer and service organisation

The company will continue as an authorised Yanmar dealer and service partner based in Carasco near Genoa. Over four decades it has developed relationships with installers, distributors and service centres throughout Italy, so maintaining technical expertise during the change is important to yacht owners.

Yanmar says product availability, spare-parts supply and after-sales assistance are intended to continue without interruption during the handover. These assurances come from the companies; owners planning time-critical engine work should nevertheless check current delivery expectations for their particular parts.

Direct representation aims to link builders with engineering teams

Yanmar believes a direct presence can improve coordination on sales, after-sales operations and product development while strengthening relationships with Italian boatbuilders. The relevance for 12.00–23.99-metre yachts includes engine specification, replacement powertrains and access to routine or specialised components.

A builder choosing a propulsion package needs dependable drawings, installation instructions and service support in the market where the boat may be maintained. A different national distribution structure could make technical conversations more direct, but it does not establish new engine ratings or a revised warranty policy by itself.

The wider group supplies several connected marine brands

Yanmar Marine International operates within the wider recreational marine business that includes Yanmar, Vetus, Maxwell, Flexofold and Smartgyro. The associated range touches propulsion, onboard systems and equipment regularly found across cruising boats and mid-sized yachts.

The company quotes a service presence in more than 130 countries, although local capabilities and stocking vary. The immediate development is the Italian distribution transition; owners should verify whether any new ordering process affects their yard, dealer or service centre before planning maintenance around the change.
