VELA Cup Campania is bringing a mixed fleet of sailing boats and cruising yachts to the island of Procida for its 25–26 September 2026 programme. Its route follows the coastline past Marina di Corricella and turns near Punta Serra before returning to the finish.
The event is organised with Marina di Procida, the municipality and Lega Navale, adding a community-focused finale to the sailing season in the Gulf of Naples. The provisional entry list includes an Excess 14 catamaran, demonstrating participation from LYG's 12.00–23.99-metre segment.
A route around the island
The planned course starts in front of Palazzo d'Avalos, passes Marina di Corricella and follows the coastline towards Punta Serra. After rounding a buoy, the fleet heads back to a finish also positioned off Palazzo d'Avalos.
It is a scenic island course that will depend on sailing instructions and prevailing conditions. The published route should not be treated as an independently verified live position for any individual boat.
Cruising and racing boats together
The organiser separates Cruising Boats using white sails from Sport Boats carrying broader racing sail inventories. Competitors are also divided into five overall-length classes, from boats up to nine metres through to those over fifteen metres.
Classes 3, 4 and 5 include portions of the LYG size range, although the event also welcomes much smaller leisure craft. Entries should be assessed individually rather than classifying the entire regatta as a sub-24-metre yacht event.
Marina and charity involvement
Marina di Procida has offered up to two complimentary nights of berthing to visiting boats from outside the area, subject to available space. Marinedi is providing a special prize as part of the presentation.
The programme also includes Regatiamo per l'Africa, with solidarity gatherings around the race and a commemorative underwater plaque. Those activities broaden the weekend beyond the racing results.
Procida beyond the start line
The island hosted Sfingi, a cinema-and-literature programme, from 22 through 25 September alongside the race weekend. Its harbours, fishing traditions and coastal scenery add a destination element for visiting crews.
The organiser's page provides the provisional entry list and race documents, which may change before the start. LYG will report an official result only after the organiser publishes one.
