The Multihull Cup begins its tenth-anniversary edition at Port Adriano, Mallorca, on 25 September, with three days of racing and an owner-and-crew programme through Sunday. Established in 2016, the event brings performance-cruising multihulls onto courses that test yachts ordinarily used for long passages as well as private cruising.
The confirmed fleet includes yachts of different sizes, some of them above 24 metres and consequently outside Luxury Yacht Guide's coverage. The relevant sub-24-metre entries include the 65-foot Gaea and 60-foot Ocean Explorer Cool Beauty II.
Gaea returns after a strong debut
The 65-foot Morelli & Melvin-designed Gaea, owned by Zachary Plavsic, returns after finishing second overall at the 2025 event. She has continued racing among performance multihulls in the Mediterranean during the intervening season.
Her entry demonstrates how a yacht used for cruising can be prepared for a demanding racing programme. It would be premature to assign a 2026 result before the event has taken place, especially when performance varies with course and conditions.
Cool Beauty II makes her first appearance
The German Frers-designed Ocean Explorer Cool Beauty II measures 60 feet and is due to make her Multihull Cup debut. She represents a different interpretation of the performance-cruising catamaran, intended for fast sailing and extended travel.
The organiser notes that she has comparatively little established race history against this particular group. That makes her debut an opportunity to see the design under competition conditions rather than a basis for predicting a finishing position.
A decade at Port Adriano
Port Adriano has been the event's home since the inaugural edition, offering direct access to the racing waters off southwest Mallorca. The marina's facilities also provide a convenient base for owners, crews and accompanying guests.
The event is deliberately compact, bringing the racing and social programme close together. The combination allows visiting cruising owners to experience the destination without a long transfer between harbour and racecourse.
Three days of racing and shoreside events
Gunboat Race Day opens the programme on Friday 25 September, followed by GT Rigging Race Day on Saturday and North Sails Race Day on Sunday. The schedule also includes a regatta dinner and tenth-anniversary prize-giving.
