New four-day Caribbean sailing week announced

The US Virgin Islands will host the inaugural USVI Sailing Week from 8 to 11 April 2027, bringing together three established boating events. The organisers say the programme will connect St Thomas, St John and St Croix through racing, cruising and an exhibition.

The combined initiative involves the St Thomas International Regatta, the Three Sheets Regatta and Rally, and the Virgin Islands Boating Expo. Rather than representing a new standalone yacht model launch, the announcement creates a coordinated calendar for visitors and local marine businesses.

St Thomas International Regatta anchors racing

The 53rd St Thomas International Regatta is scheduled for 9 to 11 April, following the opening Round the Rocks Race around St John on 8 April. Entries are expected from a variety of yacht-racing classes, with sailing close to Charlotte Amalie providing opportunities for spectators.

The organisers plan competitive racing supported by shoreside gatherings and prize ceremonies. Full entry lists and results will be established closer to or during the 2027 event.

Three Sheets connects the islands

The Three Sheets Regatta and Rally is intended to combine offshore competition with a more cruising-oriented itinerary. Organisers describe approximately 100 nautical miles of legs linking St John, St Croix and St Thomas over the event period.

Participants may choose to sail some or all of the programme, subject to the eventual entry arrangements. The route offers a way to explore the USVI while engaging with sailors from several different destinations.

VIBE adds a boating exhibition

The Virgin Islands Boating Expo will provide a showcase for yacht businesses and marine services at IGY's Yacht Haven Grande on St Thomas. The exhibition element is intended to broaden participation beyond racing crews and support local suppliers and charter organisations.

Visitors interested in cruising yachts may be able to discuss equipment, maintenance and yacht services during the event. Organisers have not yet confirmed every vessel or exhibitor expected to appear.

Travel and charter planning

The organisers identify charter and logistical options for visiting crews who do not plan to sail their own boats to the islands. They also intend to publish further registration and scheduling information as April approaches.

For Luxury Yacht Guide readers, the event combines competitive sailing with practical Caribbean yachting services and regional destinations. Any later figures for attendance, orders or racing outcomes will need confirmation after the event takes place.
