Sasga gives sales leadership a new mandate

Sasga Yachts appointed Jordi Ferrer Sales and Marketing Director in September 2026, creating a senior position responsible for the shipyard's global commercial strategy. The Menorca-based builder says the role is intended to support international expansion while keeping the character of its Menorquín cruising yachts.

The announcement includes an ambition to double the business within four years, particularly through markets in the Americas and Asia. This is a corporate target rather than a forecast of confirmed orders or deliveries.

A background spanning marine and technology markets

Ferrer previously worked with a Mediterranean yacht dealer between 2005 and 2015, before holding marketing roles with VMware and Palo Alto Networks. His earlier marine experience included international trade shows and sales of both motor and sailing vessels.

The combination of industry knowledge and digital marketing experience may help Sasga build a more structured dealer network. Its effectiveness will depend on the quality of local representatives and post-delivery support, not simply increased publicity.

The Menorquín cruising identity

Sasga's Menorquín designs combine Mediterranean-inspired exterior styling with layouts intended for comfortable coastal passages. The Menorquín 48 Flybridge, at approximately 15 metres, sits within Luxury Yacht Guide's yacht-size sector.

An owner choosing this type of vessel may prioritise stability, practical deck spaces and accommodation over outright top speed. Any comparison should use measured sea-trial results and the equipment fitted to the individual yacht.

International service challenges

Selling more yachts overseas creates responsibilities for spare-part availability, warranty work and access to technicians familiar with installed equipment. A distributor arrangement without dependable service facilities can leave owners facing extended downtime.

Sasga's planned expansion should therefore be evaluated partly through customer support. Buyers can request written arrangements covering the regions where they expect to cruise, including provisions for international warranty claims.

Growth without losing craftsmanship

The business traces its roots to Astilleros Menorca, established in 1978 by Juan Sastre Bernat. Chairman José Luis Sastre has connected the appointment with an effort to develop the organisation while retaining its family history and distinctive approach to yachtbuilding.

Heritage can support a strong design identity, but buyers still need to evaluate current workmanship and systems integration. They should also examine the builder's capacity to support an individual boat over time.

What the appointment confirms

Ferrer is responsible for sales and marketing direction and for developing dealer relationships in new regions. The new organisation may affect how potential customers encounter the brand and arrange purchase discussions.

The September announcement does not establish completed expansion or a doubling of sales. Future milestones should be tracked through confirmed dealer appointments, deliveries and customer support outcomes.

For potential buyers

Prospective customers should examine the technical features of the exact Menorquín model they are considering and establish whether their chosen dealer can arrange servicing. The overall ownership experience involves more than the date a new yacht is delivered.

Some buyers may value the brand's approach to low-stress cruising, while others need different speed or accommodation. The right decision should be supported by a properly prepared sea trial and realistic analysis of operating costs.
