Lofrans has opened a new owned manufacturing facility in Cambiago, near Milan, as the anchor-system specialist marks 60 years in the yachting industry. The move transfers manufacturing from Monza into a larger site designed to improve production flow, capacity and technology integration.
Lofrans says the Cambiago facility provides more space and an optimised production process, allowing the company to increase daily manufacturing capacity. The new plant is intended to support both established windlass lines and future product development.
A larger site supports higher production capacity
For builders and owners, capacity matters because anchoring equipment is a core system with long replacement cycles and service requirements that can extend well beyond the original yacht warranty.
The move continues six decades of Italian production
Founded in Monza in 1966, Lofrans has built its reputation around windlasses, deck hardware and anchor-management systems. Relocating rather than outsourcing production keeps the manufacturing base in northern Italy while giving the company room to modernise.
The timing also gives the company a clear 60-year milestone from which to update manufacturing methods without abandoning the engineering heritage associated with the brand.
LALIZAS ownership has expanded the international platform
Lofrans has been part of the LALIZAS group since 2012. The company says the new facility strengthens its global position while improving efficiency and operational control at the production level.
For the yacht market, group backing can matter in areas such as international distribution, spares availability and service support, particularly for equipment expected to remain aboard for many years.
Anchoring hardware remains a critical ownership system
Windlasses are often treated as simple deck machinery, but reliability depends on correct sizing, electrical supply, chain handling and routine inspection. A production investment that improves consistency and parts support therefore has practical relevance beyond corporate expansion.
The Cambiago opening gives Lofrans additional capacity at a time when yacht builders are demanding more integrated deck systems, while owners continue to expect long-term serviceability from equipment installed at launch. The additional manufacturing space should also give Lofrans more flexibility to support spare-parts demand alongside new-build production.
