Helix and New Eagle are preparing a joint marine-electrification display at IBEX 2026, combining electric motors and inverters with propulsion management and energy controls. Their 1 September announcement positions the system as an integrated offer for boatbuilders rather than separate components assembled without a common control plan.
For 12–23.99-metre yacht projects, electric and hybrid propulsion raises questions about system interfaces, thermal management and commissioning. The companies describe an engineering platform, not a verified installation or sea-trial result for a named LYG yacht.
Mechanical power meets software
Helix contributes electric machines and inverter technology, while New Eagle brings embedded controls and propulsion-management software. The partnership aims to make those elements work as a coordinated architecture from specification through installation.
A yard still needs to define the vessel's expected duty cycle, available space, battery arrangement and cooling. Those decisions cannot be inferred from a motor's headline power rating alone.
A planned Tampa demonstration
The companies identify Booth 1-311 for their joint appearance, with live demonstrations of electric motor, inverter and energy-coordination technologies. The display is scheduled during IBEX at Tampa Convention Center on 6–8 October.
Helix also serves commercial and offshore vessel markets, and not every product in its catalogue will fit an LYG-sized yacht. Builders should request the duty-specific configuration and documented integration responsibilities.
The project needs a whole-vessel plan
An electrified yacht must manage charging, electrical protection, emergency operation and support after delivery as part of one specification. A supplier's integrated controls may simplify interfaces, but it does not substitute for vessel-level testing and applicable approvals.
