Genoa has opened a new Polo della Nautica in the Waterfront di Levante, bringing refit, maintenance, technical service and sailmaking into one integrated marine-industry site. The facility combines Genoa Sea Service, Gatti and North Sails while allowing each business to retain its own identity and specialist role.
The hub is designed for leisure yachts up to 30 metres, with Genoa Sea Service specifically strengthening its work on sailing and motor yachts between 15 and 30 metres. That places a significant part of the facility's target market directly inside Luxury Yacht Guide's 12-to-23.99-metre coverage.
16,000 square metres ashore
The new complex provides around 16,000 square metres of land area and 6,200 square metres of covered industrial space. It also includes approximately 5,300 square metres of water area and 356 linear metres of technical quay.
Bringing workshops, haul-out facilities and sailmaking into one location can reduce the number of transfers required during a refit. For owners, that can simplify project coordination when work involves hull, machinery, rigging, interiors and sails at the same time.
A 140-tonne travel lift expands capacity
The site includes a 140-tonne travel lift and a dedicated launching and haul-out basin. Genoa Sea Service says the new equipment and the enlarged basin allow the yard to handle larger yachts than it could previously accommodate ashore.
That additional lifting capacity is especially relevant to the 15-to-24-metre sector, where displacement rises rapidly and conventional marina lifting equipment can become a limiting factor. Owners gain access to a facility designed around heavier cruising yachts rather than only small leisure craft.
Gatti and North Sails add complementary services
Gatti, now part of Amico Marine, contributes refit and maintenance capability while North Sails has moved its Italian base into the complex. The arrangement creates a cluster where mechanical, structural and sail-related work can be coordinated within the same waterfront site.
North Sails' presence is particularly relevant to larger sailing yachts that may require sail service alongside yard periods. The shared location can shorten logistics when a yacht is already ashore or alongside for maintenance.
Genoa strengthens its medium-yacht service sector
Genoa is already established as a major Mediterranean refit centre for large yachts, but the new Polo deliberately extends modern infrastructure toward medium-size leisure yachts. The facility is due to be formally presented to clients and operators during the Genoa International Boat Show period.
For owners of 15-to-23.99-metre yachts, the development adds another substantial service option on the Ligurian coast. Its significance lies less in headline scale than in concentrating several technical disciplines around lifting, covered work and waterfront access.
