Garcia Yachts has outlined a 72-foot aluminium expedition catamaran concept developed with Berret-Racoupeau Yacht Design. At 22.9 metres overall, the proposed multihull belongs in Luxury Yacht Guide's under-24-metre coverage and places expedition logistics ahead of conventional short-stay entertaining.
The French yard describes a wider family of 62-, 72- and 82-foot concepts, but this article focuses on the published 72-foot design. The larger proposal is beyond the LYG length limit, and none of the concepts should be mistaken for an independently tested delivered yacht.
A sailing base camp
Garcia publishes an overall length of 22.9 metres, a 21.3-metre hull length and a 10-metre beam for the 72-foot proposal. The stated sail plan comprises a 137-square-metre mainsail and 123-square-metre solent jib, with an air draft of 32 metres.
The deck is designed around preparing and deploying equipment for diving, kayaking and other shore-based activities. An uncluttered aft working zone would help separate mission preparation from the yacht's principal guest circulation.
Tender handling becomes part of the plan
A lightweight tender is intended to launch from a ramp at the port stern, allowing rapid reconnaissance or an initial trip ashore. A second, larger tender would ride on the flybridge and be handled by crane, extending the operational options away from the mothership.
The elevated Belvedere wheelhouse combines steering and a lounge in a protected area with wide views. Garcia also describes access to a second helm on the flybridge, providing alternative working positions as conditions change.
Semi-custom arrangements
Proposed layouts may be adapted for private exploration, expedition charter or scientific work, with different use of technical spaces and accommodation. The yard lists aluminium construction, double glazing, thermal insulation and heating among the concept's principal features.
The 72-foot project is a design proposal rather than a price-confirmed production delivery. Buyers would need final drawings, load calculations and the yard's signed specification before comparing range or operating budgets.
