Jeanneau has released a new video walkthrough of the Sun Odyssey 455, giving prospective owners a more practical view of a model already attracting attention at autumn boat shows. The 24 September presentation is hosted by Catherine Guiader, the builder's National Sailboat Sales Manager at Jeanneau America.
The 455 is described as the second model in the ninth generation of the Sun Odyssey range, following the 415. The new material focuses on how sailors and guests move through the yacht rather than simply offering another exterior beauty shot.
Walkaround decks and cockpit handling
Marc Lombard Yacht Design Group is credited with the yacht's new high-performance hull. The walkthrough highlights walkaround side decks without steps between cockpit and bow, a feature intended to make movement forward easier when under way or preparing to anchor.
Twin helms leave circulation through the cockpit more open and give the crew different positions from which to steer. For an owner sailing with family or a small crew, the practical questions are sightlines, sheet handling and safe passage around the deck in changing conditions.
Space to live on board
The official tour also turns attention to the social role of the cockpit, where time at anchor is as important as passage-making. It is a useful contrast to launch announcements that focus on styling while leaving prospective buyers to imagine how a day actually unfolds aboard.
