FIM – Fabbrica Italiana Motoscafi will bring the 580 Contessa to the Genoa International Boat Show for its Italian debut from 1 to 6 October 2026. The 17.80-metre yacht is the yard's new flagship and the first model in its Contessa sport-fly range, following its world premiere at Cannes earlier in September.
The Genoa display will place the 580 alongside the Regina family, giving visitors a direct comparison between FIM's existing open-yacht formula and the new sport-fly direction. It also marks the next step in a broader product expansion that is due to add a smaller 400 Contessa Coupé in 2027.
A compact flybridge without losing the sport profile
The 580 Contessa uses a flybridge that is visually integrated into the yacht rather than standing as a separate upper structure. FIM developed the exterior with Design aLOT, while Studio Nerocardinale worked with the yard on the interior.
Folding side terraces enlarge the cockpit and create a broader waterside platform at anchor. Forward, a sunpad and seating area provide a separate social zone, while the hardtop uses adjustable louvres to regulate shade and ventilation.
17.8 metres with twin Volvo Penta IPS
Official specifications list an overall length of 17.80 metres, a 4.96-metre beam and 1.40-metre draft. Propulsion comes from twin Volvo Penta D11 IPS950 units rated at 725 hp each, with 2,500 litres of total fuel capacity.
The yacht's size puts it firmly in the middle of Luxury Yacht Guide's 12-to-23.99-metre market. It is large enough to offer distinct exterior living zones while remaining within the owner-operated production-yacht category.
Interior planning focuses on adaptable space
Below deck, FIM describes a layout built around flexibility rather than simply maximising cabin count. The central dinette can convert into an additional sleeping area, while the owner's cabin is placed forward with a central bed and private accommodation around it.
That approach reflects how many buyers use yachts in this size range: day use may dominate much of the season, but the yacht still needs to support weekends and longer coastal trips without feeling compromised.
Genoa becomes the next market test
The Italian debut will give FIM another opportunity to measure reaction after Cannes and to present the model to its domestic market. The yard is also using the 2026–2027 period to widen its international dealer reach and develop the Contessa family.
For buyers, the 580 is important because it shows FIM moving beyond its Regina open range without abandoning the brand's emphasis on outdoor living. Genoa should give a clearer indication of whether that strategy can broaden the yard's appeal in the 18-metre luxury-yacht segment.
