ePropulsion has used the 2026 Cannes Yachting Festival to unveil eCore, a new onboard energy-management platform intended to bring propulsion, power generation, energy storage and hotel loads into a single coordinated system. The launch extends the company beyond electric motors alone and into the broader task of managing how energy is produced, stored and consumed across a yacht.

Modern yachts increasingly combine shore power, batteries, solar generation, diesel generators and electric propulsion, and eCore is designed to make those elements work as one managed network rather than as separate systems. For owners, the significance is therefore not simply another electrical component but a more joined-up approach to the whole energy architecture.

One platform for generation, storage and propulsion

According to ePropulsion, eCore can manage shore power, diesel generation, solar and hydrogeneration alongside electric propulsion and both AC and DC onboard loads. The architecture is centred on the eCore 96VDC management unit, with an optional eCore AC module extending control to alternating-current loads where required.

The modular approach gives builders flexibility because a yacht can begin with the DC system and add AC management as its requirements grow. That allows the same platform to be adapted to different vessel sizes and equipment packages rather than forcing every installation into an identical specification.

Load management moves into the helm environment

eCore includes monitoring, power-saving and load-shedding functions intended to help crews make better use of available energy. Consumption data and historical information can provide a clearer picture of how a yacht is using power as domestic loads, electronics and electrically driven equipment become more demanding.

The platform supports customised interfaces for shipyards and remote monitoring for troubleshooting. ePropulsion also says information can be integrated with multifunction displays from Raymarine, Garmin and Simrad/B&G, potentially reducing the need for another standalone screen at the helm.

Why it matters for production-yacht builders

The important development is the move toward energy architecture being treated as an integrated design decision from the start of a build. For production builders, a scalable package can simplify engineering and make electric or hybrid options easier to repeat across a model range.

As more sub-24-metre yachts adopt larger battery banks, renewable generation and electrified auxiliary systems, coordinating those systems intelligently is becoming as important as the individual components themselves. eCore is ePropulsion’s clearest move yet into that wider whole-yacht energy role.

Cannes puts the system in front of builders

ePropulsion is showing eCore at Cannes to an audience that includes shipyards, designers, dealers and owners considering the next generation of production yachts. The timing matters because new energy systems are most effective when they are engineered into a yacht early rather than added late in the build process.

For buyers, the practical question will be which builders adopt the platform and how they integrate it with propulsion, battery capacity and hotel loads. A well-designed energy-management system should make the yacht simpler to operate, not merely add another layer of electronics.
