Cox Marine will contribute to the technical conference at IBEX 2026 in Tampa, where Hugh Hudleston is scheduled to discuss high-performance diesel outboard propulsion. The British engine developer announced the appearance on 24 September ahead of the show's 6–8 October programme.
Diesel outboards can be considered in particular production-yacht and large-tender configurations, but the manufacturer has not announced a new 12–23.99-metre model or a completed yacht installation in this release. The news is its confirmed engineering participation at the trade event.
An outboard alternative at the show
Cox says its V8 diesel product is designed as an alternative to petrol outboards for applications prioritising different fuel and operating characteristics. A prospective buyer needs to compare the precise engine rating, installation mass and transom specification against the intended boat.
The company's current range includes 300hp and 350hp versions of its 4.4-litre diesel V8, according to its product information. These ratings are not a declaration that a particular yacht will reach a quoted speed.
Questions for a larger yacht tender
A diesel-outboard decision can involve fuel commonality with the mother yacht, support coverage, service access and total installation weight. Hull designers must account for the engine and controls as a complete package, not only the horsepower figure.
Operating advantages depend on duty cycle and the existing machinery architecture. Owners should obtain builder-approved installation guidance and warranty terms before considering a refit.
A technical session, not a product launch
IBEX takes place at the Tampa Convention Center on 6–8 October, bringing marine builders and suppliers together. Cox's notice identifies a conference contribution rather than a newly unveiled engine specification.
