A new Catalan distribution focus
Boero Yacht Coatings has confirmed attendance at the Barcelona Boat Show from 14 to 18 October 2026, using the event to strengthen connections with local boatyards, refinishing companies and marine contractors. The Italian coatings specialist will appear at the Barcelona Clúster Nàutic stand in Gran Vía, Pavilion 2, Level 0, E94.
Two new partner relationships support the regional programme: La Moderna in the Barcelona and Tarragona provinces and Empordaro in Girona. Both already supply coatings, making their technical knowledge and customer access important to the yacht-refinishing market.
Colour matching becomes a local service
Boero says La Moderna has installed two CHALLENGERMIX tinting systems for its CHALLENGERPRO range. The company cites more than 245,000 available colour formulations across six qualities, making shade matching an important part of the offering.
For an owner repainting a 15- or 20-metre yacht, colour choice must be connected with application, substrate preparation and later repairability. A wide catalogue does not guarantee that a coating will be appropriate for every material or exposure condition.
High-gloss finishes and their demands
CHALLENGERPRO Fusion is promoted as a polyurethane finishing system designed for a mirror-like gloss and resistance to abrasion and colour deterioration. A premium finish can materially influence the appearance of a yacht, particularly along large uninterrupted topsides.
Achieving that appearance requires skilled preparation, controlled application and careful curing. The competence of the painting contractor and the condition of the underlying surface can matter more than the advertised coating alone.
Partnership with Ferrari Hypersail
Boero also describes technical work with Ferrari Hypersail, developing a complete coating system intended for demanding high-performance sailing conditions. The work emphasises controlling coating thickness and weight while maintaining suitable durability.
Racing research can produce lessons useful to the wider marine industry, but a specialised racing coating may not be appropriate for a family cruiser without additional evaluation. Owners should ask about the precise product and its intended use.
A mid-sized yacht maintenance perspective
Yachts between 12 and 23.99 metres may require localised repairs, a deck refresh or a complete topsides repaint during their lifetime. Reliable colour-matching services can help minimise visible differences where only part of the surface requires attention.
A yard should provide written specifications covering surface preparation, primers, environmental limits and expected maintenance. Corrosion protection and appropriate health-and-safety procedures must also be addressed.
Barcelona as a technical marketplace
The October show brings together builders and suppliers in a region with an active yacht maintenance and marina sector. Boero's expanded local network is an announced service development, not proof of new coating contracts or completed repaints.
For owners, the principal practical change is the potential for more accessible specialist colour services in Catalonia. Availability and technical support should be confirmed directly before booking work.
