Genoa adds a €12 million waterfront service facility

The Nautical Centre has opened in Genoa’s Levante Waterfront area following an investment of approximately €12 million. The 16,000-square-metre facility brings together Genoa Sea Service, Gatti and North Sails within one site serving sailing and motor yachts up to around 30 metres.

Genoa Sea Service and Gatti operate from the ground floor of the two-storey industrial building, while North Sails has established a sail loft above them. The shared location allows the businesses to retain separate identities while placing multiple refit and service capabilities within the same operational footprint.

Travel lift and technical docks expand yard capacity

The centre includes about 6,200 square metres of covered space, 1,000 square metres of equipped docks and a 140-tonne travel lift. It also provides a slipway, launching dock, workshops, carpentry facilities and approximately 356 linear metres of technical berthing.

The infrastructure is aimed at reducing the logistical friction involved in maintenance projects where hull work, sails, systems and specialist contractors may otherwise be spread across several locations. Further investment is planned in berth electrification and other waterfront services as the centre develops.

Tenders and smaller superyachts are part of the target market

The facility’s size range includes large tenders and support craft as well as yachts approaching 30 metres, giving it direct relevance to the superyacht supply chain. These vessels often require fast turnaround, specialist coatings, sail work or mechanical support while the mothership remains in operation elsewhere.

Genoa already has a dense cluster of yards, suppliers and marine businesses, and the new centre adds another integrated service option to that ecosystem. Its long-term value will depend on project throughput and the ability of the participating companies to coordinate work efficiently across the shared site.
