A day away from a sea-going yacht can still revolve around the water. Bowness Bay Marina has introduced 23-foot electric Premium Plus XL launches for its 2026 hire fleet on Windermere, offering self-drive outings for groups of up to ten people.
Space for a lake outing
The operator describes a modern open layout with sociable seating, a quiet electric drive and room for friends or family. A two-hour hire is the minimum booking, allowing time to explore part of the lake rather than rush a short circuit.
The boats are approximately seven metres long and therefore belong to the lake-hire segment, not LYG’s 12–23.99m yacht inventory. Here they are presented as an excursion for yacht owners and guests travelling ashore.
Hiring without a personal vessel
A self-drive arrangement lets visitors enjoy Windermere without transporting a tender or arranging a separate charter crew. The operator provides pre-departure instructions, and the exact booking must state capacity, permitted route and return time.
Electric operation reduces engine noise but does not remove collision risks or the need to maintain a lookout. Local speed, weather and lake navigation rules apply to every hire.

A group can combine the lake with village dining, walks and time at a hotel or holiday home. That makes an inland outing an alternative to another coastal passage when a family wants a change of scenery.
