One Suite The Grand is adding a small, highly private villa extension to its Kouri Island retreat in Okinawa. Opening on October 8, the new Pool Villa Suite comprises just four guest rooms located around five minutes on foot from the hotel's main building.

Four villas, four private pools

Each villa is designed around an ocean view and its own 8-by-4-metre infinity pool. The rooms also include private cave saunas with self-löyly, allowing guests to move between heat, cold-water recovery and the pool without leaving their accommodation.

Two of the villas are configured with twin beds and two with king beds. Warm timber finishes and a restrained interior palette keep the focus on the island landscape, while the separate location creates a quieter, adults-oriented atmosphere away from the hotel's main building.

A compact form of resort privacy

The concept reflects a growing preference within high-end island hospitality for fewer rooms, stronger indoor-outdoor living and wellness facilities that are private rather than shared. Here, the infinity pool and sauna are treated as part of the room rather than as central resort amenities.

Reservations opened on October 6, with stays beginning October 8. For travellers combining Japan with a longer coastal or yachting itinerary, Kouri Island offers a notably intimate counterpoint to larger resort developments in the region.
