The car-and-marina journey is a familiar part of yacht ownership, particularly for people who keep a boat away from home. MG became the Royal Yachting Association’s official automotive partner in June 2026, with support for the British Sailing Team and a new purchasing benefit for RYA members.

A relationship beyond sponsorship logos

The collaboration places MG branding on British Sailing Team sails, athlete and support-team clothing and the RYA website. Both organisations connect the programme to participation in boating and the practical need for road travel around training and events.

This is a wider association partnership rather than an announcement of an exclusive transport service at every marina. Owners should not assume that all RYA centres or yacht clubs have an MG vehicle available.

An affinity benefit for members

The RYA says eligible members gain access to the MG Affinity Scheme, which can provide savings against buying a new MG. The published announcement does not establish one fixed discount valid across every model or date.

A buyer should check the current member-benefit area, model eligibility, financing and local availability. A membership benefit is separate from the car’s normal warranty and running costs.

A role for a coastal household

MG highlights its range of hybrid and electric vehicles and their luggage capacity as practical companions for sailing trips. A couple or family travelling to a 12–23.99m yacht may value cabin space for provisions, clothing and sports equipment.

Electric charging still depends on the chosen model and local infrastructure, while towing capacity must be verified separately. A car’s boating association does not make it suitable for pulling a substantial yacht.

The agreement was published on 10 June, so this feature examines an established membership and travel link rather than claiming a new September deal. Its value to a particular owner depends on whether the RYA benefit fits their vehicle needs.
