Battery recycling can help reduce dependence on newly extracted resources, but an individual pilot cannot establish the complete environmental impact of mass-market production. Energy use, recovery yields, transport and the long-term quality of the recycled materials all need to be assessed.
The challenge is repeatable quality
Porsche and its partners are assessing whether the new cells meet stringent requirements for performance and longevity. Initial feasibility work has been encouraging, the company says, while additional test results were expected in the second half of 2026.
