LVMH’s Les Journées Particulières returns from October 16 to 18, opening workshops, manufactures, boutiques, cellars and heritage sites that are normally inaccessible to the public. The sixth edition spans 71 venues in 13 countries and involves 45 Maisons.

The theme, At the Source of Dreams, focuses on the places, materials and skills that sit behind finished luxury products. Some venues will open to visitors for the first time, making the event particularly useful to travellers interested in how luxury goods are actually made.

Craft replaces the finished product as the attraction

Visitors are invited behind the presentation layer of luxury into workshops where materials are cut, set, stitched, blended or assembled. The emphasis is on process and the people who preserve specialist techniques.

This changes the experience from shopping into observation and conversation. Seeing the time involved in a handmade object can alter how a customer understands both its price and its limitations.

Nature and place are part of the programme

LVMH has organised the edition around nature, culture and craft. Vineyards, historic houses and production sites show how geography and local materials influence what each Maison creates.

For travellers, these locations can be more interesting than flagship stores because they reveal why certain products belong to particular regions. A cellar, atelier or family home can provide context that a finished object alone cannot communicate.

Bookings open in phases

Reservations are being released in stages ahead of the October event, while some locations will allow visitors without advance booking. This means travellers can build a weekend around several experiences rather than relying on a single difficult reservation.

Venues include fashion, jewellery, watches, wines and spirits, hospitality and other specialist crafts. The geographic spread also makes the event relevant beyond Paris, with sites open across Europe and farther afield.

Behind-the-scenes access has become a luxury experience itself

For frequent luxury buyers, greater value often comes from access and understanding rather than simply acquiring another object. Meeting craftspeople or entering a normally closed workshop can create a stronger memory than a conventional purchase.

Les Journées Particulières fits LYG Lifestyle for exactly that reason. It turns craftsmanship into a travel experience and gives yacht owners and other luxury travellers a way to see the human work behind the brands they already encounter.
