A residential first

IHG has signed the world’s first branded residences under the Hotel Indigo name. The development will form part of Mountain View Ras El Hekma on Egypt’s North Coast.

The project is planned with 280 residences ranging from studios to three-bedroom homes. They will sit alongside a separate 100-room Hotel Indigo, creating a combined residential and hospitality destination.

Ras El Hekma is developing as a major Mediterranean leisure area west of Alexandria. Beaches and new resort infrastructure are drawing increasing attention to this part of the Egyptian coast.

Life on the North Coast

Hotel Indigo is normally built around neighbourhood identity, local stories and distinctive design. Extending that philosophy into homes gives the brand a chance to create something less generic than a standard serviced apartment.

Residents are expected to gain access to hotel-led services and amenities while retaining the independence of a private home. That combination is one of the main attractions of branded residential projects.

For seasonal owners, management and service support can also make a second home easier to use. The practical benefit matters when a property sits far from a primary residence.

Hotel services at home

The coastal location gives the project particular relevance to LYG readers. A residence near Mediterranean boating, beaches and resort facilities can function as a base for a wider leisure lifestyle.

It also reflects the rapid development of Egypt’s North Coast as an international destination. New hospitality brands are arriving alongside large residential and infrastructure projects.

Why branded residences are growing

Branded residences continue to grow because buyers increasingly want both ownership and service. The strongest projects combine genuine residential comfort with hotel support rather than simply attaching a logo.

Hotel Indigo’s first move into the category will therefore be worth watching. Its neighbourhood-led identity could offer a more relaxed interpretation of branded coastal living.
