Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur is shaping its year-end celebrations around local craft as well as familiar holiday food. A December afternoon tea paired with batik painting gives the city hotel's festive programme a distinctly Malaysian centrepiece.
The property is also introducing cocktails across five venues, special menus at Curate and Yun House, and a New Year's Eve programme. These offerings are independent of the Michelin Key recognition recently reported by LYG.
A tea experience with batik painting
The Lounge will offer its seasonal afternoon tea with a hands-on batik session from 1 through 31 December. The menu includes a Winter Wonderland opera cake, cinnamon choux and eggnog mousse.
Savoury courses include Sabah lobster terrine, foie gras praline and a beef rendang croquette. The activity is intended to give travellers an encounter with local textile traditions alongside tea.
Five drinks across the hotel
Beverage manager Alexandre Renoue is designing a signature festive drink for each of the hotel's five outlets. Yun House's Golden Winter combines cognac, jasmine, mandarin and ginger, while Bar Trigona uses bourbon, brown butter and its namesake honey in Pain d'Hiver.
Alcohol-free options include a fruit, coconut-water and kaffir-lime drink and a pear-and-rose creation at The Lounge. The differing recipes allow visitors to choose a bar or restaurant to match their plans.
Christmas at Curate and Yun House
Curate's Christmas events will feature festive classics and Asian ingredients such as steamed lobster and a large yellowfin tuna. A giant yule log is planned to be served at the table.
Chef Jimmy Wong is preparing a Cantonese set menu at Michelin-selected Yun House. The announcement separates these two dining options instead of promising the same festive meal in every outlet.
New Year above the city
The hotel is planning dining and countdown celebrations overlooking KLCC Park and the Kuala Lumpur skyline. Its central location makes the experience accessible to travellers staying in the Golden Triangle district.
The programme starts with Thanksgiving and continues into January, but not every experience runs throughout that period. Reservations should be made for the particular restaurant, date and activity.
