Sunreef Yachts

Sunreef Yachts is a Polish luxury catamaran builder founded by Francis Lapp. The company established its production site and office in Gdańsk in 2002 and launched the Sunreef 74 CHE in 2003, which the builder describes as the first 74-foot luxury oceangoing catamaran with a flybridge. The yard has since developed extensive sailing, power and performance multihull ranges.

Design, engineering and much of the construction process are carried out in-house in Gdańsk. Sunreef's production infrastructure includes composite, carpentry, upholstery, paint, mechanical, electrical and electronic capabilities, supporting the high degree of customisation associated with its yachts.

Sunreef models below 24 metres

Luxury Yacht Guide covers a broad Sunreef selection between 12.00 and 23.99 metres. The current database includes sailing catamarans, Power NEXT models and the narrower ULTIMA performance range.

The first SEO yacht group includes the Sunreef 50, Sunreef 70 NEXT, Sunreef ULTIMA 55 and Sunreef ULTIMA 66. Additional current LYG records extend from the ULTIMA 44 through larger sailing and power catamarans that remain below 24 metres overall.

Sailing catamarans

The Sunreef 50 demonstrates the fundamental multihull advantage of using beam to create accommodation and deck area far beyond what its 15.20-metre length might suggest. The larger Sunreef 70 NEXT measures 21.64 metres overall and 10.85 metres in beam, creating a large cruising platform with multiple exterior social areas.

ULTIMA power catamarans

The ULTIMA series takes a different approach. The ULTIMA 55 measures 16.60 metres but only 5.60 metres in beam, while the ULTIMA 66 measures 22.00 by 7.25 metres. These proportions are intended to provide some multihull space and stability while addressing the berth and drag considerations associated with very wide cruising catamarans.

Sunreef is particularly relevant to buyers prioritising deck area, at-anchor comfort, customisation and multihull stability. The principal practical consideration is beam: traditional Sunreef sailing catamarans can require substantially wider berths than monohulls of similar length, while the ULTIMA range offers a narrower alternative. Buyers should therefore compare not only length and accommodation, but berth requirements, propulsion configuration, energy systems and intended cruising area.
