The Sunreef ULTIMA 55 is a 16.60-metre power catamaran with a deliberately narrower stance than traditional cruising multihulls. At 5.60 metres wide, the platform is intended to retain some of the space and stability benefits of twin hulls while making marina access and high-speed operation more practical. The result is a crossover concept that sits between conventional power catamarans and beamy performance motor yachts.
A walkaround deck, large semi-open saloon and folding aft bulwark platforms are central to the layout. When the side platforms are lowered, the aft area expands into a much broader waterside zone. Sunreef also publishes an eco-oriented propulsion package with high-output electric motors, battery storage and supplementary combustion power. Because these systems can evolve quickly and may be configured for individual builds, buyers should verify the exact propulsion and battery specification of the yacht they are considering rather than assume all ULTIMA 55s are identical.
Why the ULTIMA layout is different
The comparatively narrow beam reduces one of the main practical constraints of large catamarans while the twin-hull platform still allows a broad central living area. IPS propulsion adds useful low-speed control and helps keep machinery compact. The shallow draft further supports coastal cruising and access to anchorages that would be difficult for deeper performance yachts.
