Smartgyro has appointed Plymouth-based Yacht Master Marine as a certified UK dealer for its full range of gyro stabilisers. The move expands local installation, commissioning and service support as the manufacturer builds out its European dealer network.

Installation experience is central to the appointment

Yacht Master Marine is led by marine engineer Carl Pook and focuses on vessel stabilisation, commissioning and technical support. Smartgyro says the business brings experience from more than 200 gyro installations as well as work with established yacht brands and shipyards.

That background matters because stabiliser performance depends on more than choosing the right model. Foundation design, cooling, power supply, alignment, access and commissioning all influence whether the system delivers its intended performance over time.

The dealer will support the full Smartgyro range

The agreement gives Yacht Master Marine access to Smartgyro’s complete product line, from smaller recreational systems through larger stabilisers. The company will support owners and yards with installation and aftersales work in the UK, while its experience also extends into Mediterranean yacht operations.

For owners who cruise internationally, having a dealer familiar with both installation and service can reduce the risk of a project becoming fragmented between different contractors. A stabiliser is a long-term machinery installation, so support after commissioning should be considered at the specification stage.

Serviceability is part of the product pitch

Smartgyro emphasises modular construction that allows major components to be disassembled and passed through existing access openings. The systems are also designed for onboard service, reducing the need to remove the complete gyro or haul the yacht simply to carry out routine inspection work.

Those features are especially relevant on refits where machinery spaces were not designed around a gyro from new. They do not eliminate the need for proper access, but they can make later maintenance more realistic on yachts with tight technical spaces.

UK coverage strengthens a growing network

The appointment follows Smartgyro’s broader effort to expand dealer and service capacity across important boating markets. The manufacturer is part of the YANMAR Group, giving it a wider industrial base while still relying on specialist local partners for installation work.

For UK owners, the practical benefit should be easier access to trained support close to major south-coast cruising and refit centres. The value of the appointment will ultimately be measured through installation quality, parts availability and response time when systems require attention.
