Smartgyro has restructured part of its North American sales network through a new partnership with ComMar, a manufacturers’ representative group serving key boating regions in the United States. The agreement is intended to expand contact with boatbuilders, service yards and dealers while supporting demand for the company’s gyro stabilisers.

ComMar takes a market-development role

Under the agreement, ComMar will promote the Smartgyro portfolio and use its existing marine-industry relationships to generate new business. Its territory covers the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, Southeast and Gulf regions, giving Smartgyro representation across several important yacht-building and refit markets.

A manufacturers’ representative differs from a single local dealer because the role is centred on developing a network of OEM and trade relationships across a broad territory. That can be especially useful for equipment such as stabilisers, which are often specified during design or major refit rather than purchased casually at retail.

Builder and yard access is a central objective

Smartgyro highlighted ComMar’s relationships with boatbuilders and professional service yards as a reason for the appointment. Early engagement with those businesses matters because gyro installation affects foundations, cooling, power supply and access, all of which are easier to solve before spaces are finalised.

For retrofit customers, the same network can shorten the path from product interest to a technically realistic installation proposal. Owners benefit when the sales conversation includes the yard and installer early rather than treating the stabiliser as a standalone appliance.

The move sits within a wider US expansion

The ComMar agreement forms part of Smartgyro’s effort to increase its North American presence alongside authorised dealers and service partners. The company has also been adding local installation and support relationships, including its more recent South Florida partnership with All Points Boats.

That two-layer approach combines market representation with hands-on technical capability. For owners, the strength of the service network can be as important as the stabiliser specification because commissioning and maintenance quality have a direct effect on long-term reliability.

After-sales capability will determine the value

Smartgyro’s range extends from the compact SG20 through larger models intended for heavier yachts, all using a modular service philosophy. Expanding commercial reach creates more opportunities, but it also increases the need for consistent installation standards, spare parts and trained technicians.

The ComMar partnership therefore matters less as a simple sales appointment than as part of the infrastructure supporting the product in a large market. Yacht owners considering stabilisation should still verify who will install, commission and maintain the exact system in their cruising region before specifying it.
