The flybridge was unusually large for the length

PRESTIGE designed the 690 around an upper deck measuring approximately 240 square feet, creating enough room for helm, dining and lounging zones rather than treating the flybridge as a secondary driving station. This gave the yacht a strong outdoor-living identity within a 21.45-metre hull.

That scale is one reason the model remains relevant when comparing later PRESTIGE designs. The company was already using beam and vertical space to create multiple social environments without pushing the yacht into a much larger overall length category.

Private master access improved owner separation

One of the model's notable layout decisions was independent access to the full-beam master suite, allowing owners to reach their cabin without sharing the same lower-deck passage used by guests. This created a stronger sense of privacy than many conventional four-cabin production yachts of the period.

The arrangement foreshadowed a broader trend toward superyacht-style zoning on smaller platforms. Owners increasingly expect cabins, crew circulation and service routes to feel intentionally separated even when the yacht remains comfortably below 24 metres.

IPS propulsion shaped the interior architecture

The 690 was offered with Volvo Penta IPS propulsion, including IPS1200 and IPS1350 packages depending on specification. Pod drives helped free interior volume and supported joystick manoeuvring, while published maximum speeds reached roughly 30 knots or more with the larger installation.

Fuel capacity was around 3,450 litres on the metric specification, giving the yacht useful reserves for Mediterranean cruising. Performance figures should now be treated as historical factory references because individual brokerage examples may have different equipment, loading and maintenance histories.

Past models still influence current buying decisions

A discontinued model can remain important because it establishes design ideas that appear in later yachts and provides a substantial secondary-market ownership option. The PRESTIGE 690 is no longer presented as a current new-build product, so buyers should use current brokerage information for availability and price.

For LYG readers, the model remains relevant as a benchmark for premium flybridge architecture around 21 metres. Its large upper deck, private master access and IPS layout show how much yacht-like separation had already been packaged below 24 metres.
