Outremer is continuing the international launch programme for the new Outremer 48 with an appearance at the Annapolis Sailboat Show from 15 to 18 October. The French builder will display the 48 alongside the Outremer 52 at City Dock, following the new model’s world-exclusive presentation at Cannes earlier in September.
The move from Cannes to Annapolis takes the 48 from a European debut environment into one of North America’s most important sailing-yacht markets. It also gives prospective buyers another opportunity to inspect the yacht afloat and discuss long-distance cruising plans directly with the builder’s team.
The 48 becomes Outremer's newest long-range platform
Outremer describes the 48 as its latest model and positions it as an owner-operated bluewater catamaran designed to combine performance, comfort and practical range. At under 15 metres, it remains compact enough to appeal to couples and families while offering the volume expected from a modern cruising multihull.
The builder highlights lightweight construction, daggerboards and an external helm as key elements of the design. Those choices are intended to support efficient sailing rather than relying on engine power to maintain passage speeds, particularly on longer offshore routes.
Cannes introduced the production yacht to Europe
The Outremer 48 appeared at Port Canto during the Cannes Yachting Festival from 8 to 13 September alongside the established Outremer 52. Outremer used the event to present the 48 as a world exclusive, giving the model its first major public exposure in a market already familiar with the yard’s performance-cruising approach.
Cannes also provided a useful contrast between the latest 48 and the larger 52, which has accumulated several international awards since its launch. Buyers can therefore see how the new model fits into the wider range rather than judging it as an isolated project.
Annapolis brings the 48 to a strong multihull audience
The Annapolis Sailboat Show has a particularly strong following among cruising sailors, making it a natural venue for a yacht designed around long-distance passagemaking. Outremer is offering pre-booked visits so owners can inspect the yacht and discuss specifications rather than relying on a general walk-through.
The builder will also use the show to explain its Outremer Ready support programme, which covers preparation, training and support around long-range ownership. That service element can be important for buyers moving into faster catamarans with daggerboards and more performance-oriented sailing systems.
Efficient sailing remains central to the ownership proposition
Outremer argues that a light, easily driven catamaran can reduce the hours spent motoring during a passage and therefore lower fuel use. The company is also developing hybrid propulsion options that can recover energy through the propellers while the yacht is sailing.
