MJM adds a new luxury day yacht

MJM Yachts has introduced the 38V, the first model in a new V Series designed around open-air social spaces and energetic day cruising. The model was unveiled at a private owner event in North Carolina in September 2026 and is scheduled for public appearances at major autumn boat shows.

The V Series expands rather than replaces MJM's existing X and R collections. Its styling is more expressive while retaining the builder's emphasis on efficient composite construction and manageable ownership.

A different MJM profile

The 38V has a long, clean profile, a sculpted hardtop and a layout that emphasises easy movement between social areas. The manufacturer describes the boat as a new expression of its Downeast-inspired design philosophy.

The yacht is intended for owners who value a mix of performance and relaxed entertaining. Its open character contrasts with the more enclosed cruising layouts found in the R Series.

Dimensions for versatile day use

The builder lists an overall length of 38 feet 6 inches and a beam of 11 feet, putting the 38V in the size range of premium day yachts. Fuel capacity is approximately 250 US gallons.

These measurements make it possible to compare the boat with other craft of a similar size. Real-world range and consumption will depend on engine choice, loading and sea conditions.

Outboard propulsion options

Twin Mercury Verado V8 300-horsepower outboards are listed as standard propulsion. Buyers looking for more performance can select optional twin Mercury V10 425-horsepower engines.

MJM claims capability above 50 mph with suitable power, but the outcome for a particular boat depends on specification and conditions. Owners should request verified test figures for the engine package they are considering.

Advanced lightweight construction

The 38V uses MJM's C5 composite construction methods, reflecting the company's long-standing focus on controlling weight and achieving efficient hull performance. This approach is carried over from experience with the builder's existing models.

The company links its construction philosophy with ride comfort and responsive handling. A prospective customer can evaluate these claims most effectively during a sea trial.

Room to gather outside

The yacht offers open forward and aft cockpits, with flexible seating and dining arrangements. The manufacturer wants visitors to be able to move easily between relaxing, socialising and water-based activities.

Space for conversations and meals is central to the design, rather than incidental seating around the helm. The boat's actual usefulness will depend on the owner's party size and usual cruising style.

A modern helm arrangement

The 38V's helm station is designed around an unobstructed working position and digital navigation equipment. There is provision for two Garmin GPSMAP 1543 xsv ultrawide displays alongside an electrically actuated windscreen.

The combination seeks to balance visibility and weather protection in an open-boat format. Buyers should examine the operating controls and electronics specification on the exact vessel offered.

Accommodation below deck

Although the design emphasises day boating, the 38V includes an interior arranged to support breaks during a longer outing. Refined finishes and an enclosed head provide additional comfort compared with a simple open launch.

The builder's official images show different material choices, which may form part of owner customisation. Prospective buyers should review storage and accommodation arrangements in person.

Public appearances in autumn

The 38V's private debut was held at the MJM Experience event in New Bern, North Carolina, on 11 and 12 September 2026. The builder has also listed appearances at Newport, Annapolis and Fort Lauderdale shows during the autumn season.

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is scheduled for 28 October to 1 November. Visitors should confirm that the 38V is available for boarding or demonstration on their intended day.

An expanding V Series

MJM has indicated that additional models, including a larger approximately 47-foot yacht, are under development. The 38V therefore represents the beginning of a new part of its product range rather than a standalone styling experiment.

The confirmed product is the newly introduced 38V with published dimensions and engine choices. Owners should obtain current prices, option lists and delivery schedules directly from the manufacturer.
